Mount Mansfield Unified Union School District is seeking an innovative leader who values working with passionate educators and loves working with children to fill our Assistant Principal position at Camels Hump Middle School (CHMS). Camels Hump Middle School, located in Richmond, Vermont, is a middle school consisting of approximately 300 students in grades 5-8 in the heart of eastern Chittenden County. CHMS is halfway between Burlington and Montpelier with breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking and various other outdoor opportunities, local culture and the arts abound.Camels Hump Middle School maintains a strong and dedicated faculty as well as a caring, safe and inclusive school culture. We value and believe all students can be successful and achieve at high levels. We support all of our students with a strong multi-tiered system of supports and use a co-teaching model between classroom teachers and special educators that is effective, beneficial to all students and creates a welcoming and supportive learning environment.
We are looking for an individual who has experience working and teaching young students and has a solid understanding of middle school curriculum and the developmental needs of middle level students. The ideal candidates will have experience with the reading and writing workshop model, CMP math, inquiry-based science, and C3 Social Studies standards. In addition, the candidates will have experience with anti-bias, anti-racist work. Candidates must also have excellent leadership and communication skills, the ability to develop and sustain meaningful relationships with all stakeholders, and have experience collaborating with the building principal and faculty leadership team.
