Prince William County’s Department of Development Services is offering creative, challenging and rewarding work as a Development Project Manager, who can deliver results in a project oriented culture and thrives on innovation and initiative.

Our building development project management program is seeking a qualified and experienced professional with superior knowledge of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code, Use Group and Certificate of Occupancy requirements, that can demonstrate a strong comprehension of applicable building regulations specific for business use purposes.

ABOUT THIS ROLE
This managerial position supports both commercial real estate development projects and small business owner-led projects, which require thorough knowledge of code specifications that can range from large data center building plans to small tenant lease space requirements.

Problem solving is essential to the success of the program. We are looking for a motivated professional who will take the lead and can solve complex problems to assist customers through the regulatory process to ensure the business is safe to occupy and opens as quickly as possible.

Routine tasks in this role include:

  • Performing project management duties for assigned projects
  • Contributing to the Small Business Project Management Program
  • Facilitating a Multi-Disciplinary Team, Early Assistance and Issue Resolution Meetings
  • Serving as the Project Management Branch Representative on Process Action Teams
  • Maintaining accurate project records

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma and 6 years of related (Building Construction Project Manager, Plans Reviewer, Construction Inspector and/or Code Enforcement Inspector) experience.

PREFERENCES
  • Thorough knowledge of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply building code exemptions and exceptions to projects
  • A background in building construction project management and customer service experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated experience managing processes, projects and process improvement teams
  • Thorough knowledge of the Virginia Uniform Statewide Building Code (VUSBC)
  • Demonstrated ability to apply building code exemptions and exceptions to projects
  • Experience as a Project Manager, Plans Reviewer, Construction/Code Enforcement Inspector
SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS
This position works a standard Monday-Friday schedule, working 37.5 hours per week.
This position offers the ability to telework 1-2 days per week after an initial probationary period.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must become certified by the State of Virginia as a Technical Assistant to the Building Official within 18 months of employment, which includes Virginia Certified Commercial Plans Reviewer.

HIRING SALARY RANGE:
$66,742.00-$96,968
