Nonotuck Resource Associates is looking for an kind and patient caregiver in North/Central Berkshire County to share a home and life with an adult with a disability in a state-funded model of care known as Shared Living.

Shared Living brings together an individual, a couple, or family in the community with a person who has a disability to share their lives in an authentic, loving, and respectful relationship of mutual dependence.

Nonotuck is seeking a couple, family, or single person with an involved social and support network who is interested in opening their home and providing support to a man in his mid-forties. This person is very sociable, has a great sense of humor and enjoys reading, watching sports and stays current by exploring the Internet. He has held a variety of jobs in the past and also prides himself on having written a book.

The ideal caregiver would be patient, understanding and be open to providing hands-on supports with personal care needs. When searching for caregivers for this man, we are looking for applicants who live in single-family homes or apartments (with an extra bedroom on the first floor). It is also important that an available bathroom be located on the first floor.

The responsibilities of the shared living provider will include, but not be limited to: building on and maintaining independence by being able to assist in other activities of daily living (ADLs) such as participation in regular household routines, providing companionship and going out on community activities/outings. Care Providers would be responsible for helping with grocery shopping, cooking, housekeeping, laundry, routine budget management, medication management, and medical appointments.

Shared living providers are offered a generous tax-exempt stipend, as well as free training and ongoing clinical and nursing supports.

Providers must:

• Have a valid driver's license

• Have a suitable CORI (Criminal Offender Record Information) and Fingerprinting check

• Be certified in First Aid/CPR

• Experience in the field of social services and caregiving preferred
