Restaurant Cook/Kitchen Manager

We are looking for a motivated individual who can perform at a fast-paced concept restaurant that is opening soon. This position will be responsible for preparing dishes for our guests as well as managing inventory and ordering, and coordinating and supervising a small kitchen staff according to food safety standards. You will also be in charge of ensuring that the kitchen and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained.

To be successful in this job, you will need thorough experience with hot and cold food preparation. Culinary school education is preferred, and prior experience in a related position is requirement.

Restaurant Cook/Kitchen Manager Responsibilities:

• Set up and stock kitchen stations with all necessary supplies daily.
• Prepare food for service and ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality, and in a timely manner.
• Weighing, measuring, mixing, and prepping ingredients according to recipes.
• Steaming, grilling, broiling, baking, or frying meats, fish, vegetables, and other ingredients.
• Managing and ordering inventory so that all necessary ingredients are stocked for service.
• Streamlining the kitchen processes to maintain prompt service times.
• Checking food and ingredients for freshness.
• Arranging and garnishing dishes.
• Working well under pressure and within a time limit.
• Ensuring that the kitchen area, equipment, and utensils are cleaned.
• Helping lead and inspire our kitchen staff with the restaurant owner/manager.
• Setting regular cleaning standards for the kitchen and verifying that staff is maintaining sanitation levels.
• Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers.
• Ability and williness to take direction.

Restaurant Cook/Kitchen Manager Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in food and beverage service and food preparation positions preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
• Servsafe certification preferred.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in management or supervisory role preferred, but willing to train the right candidate.
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Solid working knowledge of accepted sanitation standards and health codes.
• Ability to use slicers, mixers, grinders, food processors, etc.
• Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks.
• Familiarity with industry’s best practices.
• Able to handle work in a fast-paced environment.
• Good personal hygiene is a must.

Working Conditions

• Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs., walking, bending, standing 85% of the shift, and working in extreme temperatures.
• Schedule will vary according to operational needs including holidays; weekends required.

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
