INVITATION TO JOIN OUR BRUSSELS TEAM

The ECIT Foundation is looking for new interns to join its Brussels team from mid-August.

The ECIT (European Citizens rights, Involvement and Trust) Foundation is the organisation of reference on European citizenship. Located near the European Parliament in Brussels, the foundation serves as a centre for research, dialogue and knowledge-exchange among academics, civil society activists and policy-makers.

One of the guiding principles of the ECIT Foundation is to let young people take the lead with high profile projects. Do you believe it’s time young Europeans were given real responsibility and the chance to engage directly with EU officials, MEPs, the media and a wider circle of European partners? If so, joining our team could well be the answer.

We want to enlarge our team to expand two areas of our activities:

  • Pursuing our flagship ‘Voters without Borders’ (VWB) European Citizens’ Initiative (ECI) demanding full political rights for mobile European citizens. We are looking for someone to build on this initiative to turn VWB into a permanent structure of the foundation.

  • Helping to organise high-level events, including quarterly meetings of the cross-party group of MEPs on European citizenship, the ECIT Annual Conference and other upcoming events.

To support these activities, we are looking for interns with skills in communication, advocacy & event organisation.

  • Mass-mailing of newsletters, event invitations and reminders;
  • Outreach to media contacts and the press.

Profile essentials:

  • Currently enrolled or a graduate of a pertinent degree programme (Communication, Marketing, Journalism or Political Sciences);
  • Good understanding of and interest in EU policy;
  • Graphic (Canva), mass-mailing (Mailchimp), social media management skills;
  • Able to take initiative, work in team and independently;
  • Excellent written and oral use English, any other European language is a plus;
  • Proactive and motivated

Advocacy & event organisation

Tasks:

  • Support the advocacy national strategies for ECIT;
  • Maintain and create partnerships with NGOs and civil society organizations;
  • Attend and report on external events;
  • Assist with the organization of events both online and in person;
  • Assist with the drafting of press releases and the monthly newsletter.

Profile essentials:

  • Being enrolled or a graduate of a pertinent degree programme (Political Science, International Relations or European studies);
  • Good understanding of and interest in EU policy;
  • Knowledge of the EU institutions and decision-making processes;
  • Able to take initiative, work in team and independently;
  • Strong communication skills;
  • Excellent written and oral use of English, any other European language is a plus;
  • Proactive and motivated.

Internship duration

We are looking for candidates willing to work with us from mid-August (flexible) for a period ranging from 3 to 6 months, full-time. Your presence in Brussels is preferred, although remote working from your country could be possible for some tasks. We provide no remuneration, but student applicants can apply for funding via Erasmus+ or a university programme.

How to apply

If you are interested in joining our team, please send your CV with a letter of motivation (in English) to info@ecit-foundation.eu. Please indicate which position you are applying for (communication or advocacy & event organisation) and specify it in the subject of the email.
