COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER, Human Resources, to work with the director and communications team to plan, implement, and measure HR’s strategic communications, including 50% time on communications focused on MIT’s benefits. Will collaborate on implementing a creative content strategy, including serving as primary writer and editor for a regular cadence of HR-related content for MIT Campus News and the HR website; serve as a resource for HR functional groups for writing, editing, proofreading, and other communications needs; support various HR communications vehicles, e.g., internal and public-facing websites, newsletters, etc.; and own HR’s social media accounts.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree; five years of strategic communications experience, with a focus on content creation, digital communications, and project management; excellent editing, proofreading, and written and oral communication skills; ability to complete projects at a high standard on a short timeline; up-to-date knowledge of digital communications technology, monitoring, and metrics; solid understanding of current trends in online initiatives; high-level proficiency with communications and event software (e.g., Mailchimp, SurveyMonkey, and Eventbrite), and content management systems (e.g., Drupal); high-level proficiency with Microsoft Office (particularly Word and PowerPoint) and Adobe Creative Suite; experience managing projects independently, prioritizing multiple work assignments, and meeting deadlines; experience working with contractors/outside vendors on content and design projects; experience supporting and encouraging correct use of visual and editorial style guides; ability to work in a team-oriented environment and to work collaboratively across all organizational units; and discretion and judgment with sensitive information and/or issues. PREFERRED: master’s degree; experience with podcast and/or video content creation, e.g., writing scripts; and experience working in higher education and/or human resources department. Job #22434-8
