Schedule: Monday-Friday 9:00 am-6:00 pm

Status: Full-Time (Exempt)

Compensation: Starting at $60k annually
$300 Sign-On Bonus After The Completion of the 90-Day Probationary Period

Our organization is searching for a motivated and experienced Compliance Associate to guarantee our company complies with all government regulations and laws, domestically and globally. The ideal candidate will be professional, highly analytical and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. To prosper in this role, you should be fluent in risk management and our industry’s principles.

Essential Functions*

  • Assist with managing the organization’s compliance program, metrics, and tracking system. Analyze implications of changes and inform management of all trends.
  • Develop company compliance communications
  • Coordinate with Federal and State regulators
  • Respond to State regulatory letters.
  • Help coordinate, and communicate state guidelines for the Tobacco/Vape Industry.
  • Ensure the local regulatory reporting procedures are updated on an annual basis or as changes/updates in regulations are made
  • Proactively audit products, customers, tax guidelines, processes, practices, and reports for errors and submission to state authorities.
  • Control Reporting (OCR) data maintenance and updates; updating customer files with licensing information.
  • Operate the organization’s tax management software for the Tobacco/Vape Industry
  • Stay abreast of business operations and changes in the economic and business climate.
  • Prepare monthly excise tax returns for partners
  • Manage the collection of outstanding tax receivables from customers
  • Manage and update the Vape tax rate at the state, county, and city levels.
  • Ensure state tax rate and statute changes are documented and communicated to all stakeholders.
  • Calculate tax adjustments and credits
  • Research and stay current on changes and/or updates to tax laws and regulations for assigned jurisdictions and ensure applicable financial and tax systems are updated according to Company policy. Provide business support related to taxability and system configuration for Vape related products
  • Assist with tax-related special projects as required in alignment with Department and Company initiatives.

Skill/Experience*

  • Bachelor’s degree, 3-5 years of compliance, risk management, and/or audit experience with a strong focus on risks and controls and risk-based auditing techniques.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal and State regulatory guidelines and standards.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Required Education and Experience*

  • Must have a minimum of an Associate degree or some college. One year of customer service experience and or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have intermediate computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office including Word, and Excel, and knowledge of Google‐based programs such as google sheets/Docs.
  • Previous Experience with Customer Relationship Management or Ticketing System Preferred.
  • Previous Experience with E-Commerce Platforms and knowledge of the banking industry and terminology preferred.
  • Knowledge of Vape products/electronic cigarettes and knowledge of vaping regulations is a plus but not required.
  • Knowledge of special taxes/Other Tobacco Products taxes.
