Controller
Job Summary:
ValidaTek is seeking a Controller who will have oversight and responsibility for the accounting department. This includes policy and procedure and the optimization of systems to support the financial structure of the organization. As the company is on the cusp of extensive growth, the Controller must ensure the Accounting Department is prepared to scale and perform with excellence. The Controller responsibilities include:

  • Continual updating and optimizing Accounting Policies and Procedures. Instituting and maintaining Internal Controls to ensure compliance.
  • Ensuring compliance with FAR, DCAA, GAAP, and CAS requirements.
  • Developing and monitoring cash flow forecasts.
  • Developing and managing operating budgets. Monitoring indirect rates against budgets.
  • Developing and monitoring cash flow forecasts.
  • Overseeing month-end closing and issuance of financial reports.
  • Overseeing and acting as point-of-contact for external audits.
  • Overseeing Payroll and ensuring all employees are compensated accurately and on time. Also has oversight for ensuring that work time is captured daily and accurately.
  • Ensuring accounting staff is properly trained and current on all accounting rules and regulations.
  • Ensuring all accounting staff have performance goals in place and regularly meeting with staff to ensure performance standards are met.

The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications and experiences:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. An MBA is highly preferred.
  • Must possess the CPA certification.
  • Will have at least 15 years of increasing responsibility and experience in a government contracting environment, with at least five years in a management capacity. This is not a position to grow into – this individual must have demonstrated management success that includes oversight of a high performing team.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Deltek Costpoint. The best candidates will demonstrate continual learning of the system and ensuring all team members are up to speed on the use of the system.
  • Demonstrated critical thinking skills. Makes critical decisions in a timely manner even if all information is not available. Does what is best for the business.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated team player. Understands that the success of any organization is based on the ability to work in concert with others both inside and outside of own department. Ensures all parties are kept current with all needed information, does not hide bad news, maintains a positive attitude.
  • Demonstrated success encouraging and coaching team for high performance. Holds team accountable for results.
