The Control Engineer works within the Drivetrain Systems All Wheel Drive Engineering matrixed organization in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.

Job purpose
A Controls Engineer performs a vital role in designing and developing systems for manufacturing operations. They may design layout, materials and information flow, or machine placement. Additionally, a Control Engineer can be responsible for increasing production efficiency by evaluating performance and proposing and implementing improvements. The Control Engineer works within the Drivetrain Systems All Wheel Drive Engineering matrixed organization in collaboration with the Engineering Manager.
Key responsibilities
- Design electrical and control systems for industrial automation systems
- Program and configure plant floor data interfaces (traceability)
- Support qualifications of production equipment
- Support troubleshooting production equipment for electrical/pneumatic issues
- Lead support for vision inspection systems
- Write work instructions for Controls processes including program, PLCs, automation
- Confers with equipment manufacturers to resolve problems regarding building of controls systems.
- Support developing robust Process Control Plan for production
- Support robot issues (points, electrical issues, programming)
- Technical leader for the plant in terms of automation
- Train and develop the automation technicians
What we’re looking for
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and Computer and Electrical Engineering preferred
- Extensive experience in Siemens PLC & HMI programming/troubleshooting
- Kuka Robot experience
- Torque screw drivers
- Experience in Keyence Vision systems
- Experience with AutoCAD (electrical design)
- Familiarity with safety standards for industrial equipment (OSHA, NFPA, etc)
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical manufacturing processes
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
