Moog is seeking a Proposal Analyst (Cost Engineer) to support and coordinate the efforts of the Cost Estimating team, gathering and correlating their inputs in the preparation of new business proposals. In this role, you will analyze and assemble historical cost data for follow on business proposals. You will translate it into proposal cost data and analyze it to arrive at pricing decisions. This position is based in Torrance, CA (Los Angeles area); and hybrid work is an option.

As a Cost Engineer, you will…
  • Adhere to the cost estimating system to achieve accurate accounts of product and program costs estimates while assuring compliance with all US government FAR/DFAR, TINA and other applicable regulations.
  • As part of the proposal pricing decision, communicate the “financial point of view” (including the cost estimate itself) in the Pricing Meeting which along with the ‘sales point of view” will yield the most beneficial pricing decision for the Group.
  • Support customer and government audits of Moog’s proposed cost with the objective of securing the most favorable opinion of those costs.
  • Review and report on detailed customer counter-offers and accurately prepare and communicate Moog’s offers during negotiations with our customers while projecting the fairness and reasonability of our positions.
  • Instill confidence (on the part of government, customer auditors and management) in the Moog accounting and cost estimating system through competent handling of personal interactions and the thorough preparation of cost substantiation data.

Minimum Qualifications…
  • Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering or Financial discipline (Accounting, Finance, Business)
  • Minimum 3+ years of experience in an engineering, finance/accounting, or manufacturing operations role
  • This position requires access to United States export-controlled information.

Preferred Qualifications Include…
  • Experience and proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in the aerospace or defense industry is helpful
  • Comfortable communicating and presenting data
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with different groups within the organization
  • Knowledge of government contracting regulations (FAR, DFARS, TINA)

California Residents: Pay range for this opportunity is $75,000 - $110,000, annually. Moog also offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision and life insurance; short- and long-term disability; 401(k) match; education assistance, paid holidays and vacation (flexible planned vacation), and employee stock purchase plan.
