The Diet Clerk obtains, enters, maintains and modifies dietary information for residents/patients. Prepares dietary information for use by kitchen personnel in preparation of foods.*
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES*

  • Resident/Patient Menu Selection: Prints weekly menu and distributes to units. Collects completed menus from units. As needed, meets with resident/patients to review weekly menu and food choices and assists in making selections.
  • Data Entry: Enters all resident/patient menu selections into computerized food service software. For new admissions, enters clinical diet information as notified by nursing unit. Processes new diets and changes from Nursing, physician, etc.
  • Menu Counts: Reviews resident/patient menu selections to determine the quantity and portions of foods and diet types. Tallies quantities of specific foods, such as vegetables and meats, to be prepared by the kitchen. Notifies Executive Chef of the counts.
  • Customer Service: Answers phone calls from nurses, residents/patients, family members, visitors regarding menu and diet. Answers questions and explains dietary selections.
  • Tray Tickets: Prints tray tickets for each meal. Cuts and sorts tray tickets for each unit. Ensures that all diet changes are reflected in tray tickets and are current.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
WORK ORIENTATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Requires two years experience in healthcare food service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & ENVIRONMENT/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in an office setting within the kitchen environment with frequent visits to a healthcare setting. Work involves sitting for extended periods of time, with frequent walking and standing. Bends, lifts and carries objects up to 10 pounds intermittently throughout the work day. Constant use of computer keyboard and monitor and telephone. Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus. Requires ability to talk and hear.
May be required to work weekends, holidays, evenings and/or nights, and during emergent situations such as extreme weather conditions or disasters. May experience stress associated with multiple demands and time constraints.
Little or no risk of exposure to body fluids, infectious waste, or blood borne disease. Employees will be instructed in the proper use of personal protective equipment and specific protocol if assigned duties where they may be at risk.

A 3 day P/T 7 am - 3:30 pm and/or 10 am - 6:30 pm including an every other weekend schedule.
Bi-weekly pay period (48 hours every 2 weeks) 24 hours per week.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $21.40 per hour
