EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Advertising, Public Relations or related field. A Master’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Advertising, or related field is preferred. Eight years of professional experience in Marketing/Sales or Advertising and developing promotional techniques and practices. Experience should include management/supervisory responsibility in the areas of marketing/sales, advertising or public relations. Must be able to analyze and interpret market industry and market trends to identify opportunities and develop plans to seize market advantages. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Must be able to effectively present and communicate both conceptual and information orally to a wide range of audiences, such as senior management, the Board of Directors, citizens groups, and business and communication leaders. In lieu of a degree, directly related experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.



Basic Functions


Provides leadership and direction in the development of innovative strategies and new programs to both retain current ridership and tap new ridership markets for the Authority. Explores and develops new markets for the Authority in areas such as, but not limited to, events marketing, business travel, tourism efforts, multi-lingual/multi-cultural programs, and e-commerce opportunities. Makes recommendations to management regarding current and future marketing opportunities, campaigns, and strategic business alliances. Educates the organization regarding the needs and preference of customer groups and demonstrates ways in which demands can be met through efforts of various departments in conjunction with marketing and sales. Provides leadership in the development of general marketing/sales efforts and makes appropriate recommendations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES.
1. Develops and implements strategic and tactical marketing plans and programs for the Authority's services and initiatives. Uses the organizational objectives and performance measures in combination with marketplace analyses and situation assessments to generate short and/or long-term business plans.

2. Explores and develops new markets for the Authority in areas such as, but not limited to, events marketing, business travel, tourism efforts, multi-lingual/multi-cultural programs, and e-commerce opportunities. Identifies new customer acquisition and retention programs and assesses and supports new growth opportunities.

3. Makes recommendations to management regarding current and future marketing opportunities, campaigns, and strategic business alliances. Educates the organization regarding the needs and preference of customer groups and demonstrates ways in which demands can be met through efforts of various departments in conjunction with marketing and sales.

4. Manages existing advertising/marketing campaigns, agreements, and contracts in order to ensure implementation. Develops marketing/sales materials for MARTA products and services to ensure they are fully supported by promotional literature, sales tools, web page content, and all media under MARTA’s control or influence.

5. Develops MARTA’s marketing strategies and sales plans, prepares budgets, manages expenditures, and ensures timely payment of vendors.

6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
