Salary Hiring Range: $44,601.00 to $52,162.00
Work Hours/Days: Monday – Friday
6:30 am to 3:00


Position devoted to maintaining and repairing electrical systems and components in City facilities, through the performance of semi-skilled and skilled labor and technical work. Perform a broad range of work ranging from routine to specialized skilled labor, technical repairs or operation of equipment. Incumbents may assist in training staff and serve as a lead worker over other staff. Decision-making includes how and when tasks are carried out within an operational process, limited by the selection of the process and establishment of deadlines and outcomes.

Responsible for performing and/or leading skilled maintenance electrical maintenance and installation operations for assigned facilities or sites; receiving and processing work orders and service requests; inspecting facility, equipment; preparing and maintaining reports and records; addressing safety issues; and performing related duties.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Performs and/or assists with coordinating electrical maintenance operations at assigned facilities or sites; performs skilled electrical maintenance; and/or performs preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment. Assisting with HVAC cleaning and preventative maintenance. Performing preventative maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Prepares and maintains reports and records, performs data entry, receives and processes work orders and service requests, and updates work order systems and related databases, to document and facilitate maintenance operations, and ensure compliance with applicable policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC)
  • Four years of technical repair experience in areas related to assignment.
  • A valid North Carolina Class C Driver’s License with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must complete job related and/or safety training based on assignment, such as (but not limited to) lock out/tag out, confined space entry, ladder safety, respirator and emergency evacuation training

Additional Preferred Skills

  • Experience maintaining and repairing commercial properties including electrical and/or HVAC work.
  • Experience with work order systems, and the use of mobile applications; for documenting and recording work.
  • Experience in making repairs in a commercial building.
  • This position is critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event.
