Overview

The Southco Honeoye Falls manufacturing engineer is responsible for the support and continuous improvement of the die casting, machining, finishing and assembly production departments. The engineer will develop, implement, monitor, and maintain effective manufacturing processes and workflow. The position will be responsible for evaluating existing processes to reduce costs and improve efficiencies.

The individual will be involved with troubleshooting manufacturing issues on the shop floor, designing new and improved tooling and fixtures and reviewing and updating work instructions and procedures. The individual will lead and/or participate in continuous improvement projects and work with a diverse highly skilled team including design engineers, quality engineers, maintenance, and production personnel.

Responsibilities

· Develop and implement process improvements in low to mid volume production environment

· Design fixtures and gages with 3D CAD system

· Propose and implement fixture and line design improvements

· Quoting manufacturing processes for new applications and products

· Assist in introduction of new products including design and process reviews

· Specify, justify, and develop manufacturing equipment for new or existing products

· Participation in improvement activities as part of multi-disciplined team

· Support manufacturing lines to achieve quality, delivery and cost requirements

· Root cause analysis to identify counter measures to customer concerns

· Create and maintain production and testing instructions and documentation

· Collaborate in creating, reviewing, and changing product related documents for production

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering

· Advanced degree in Engineering or Business a plus

· Demonstrated track record of successful project completion/implementation

· Eagerness to be involved in hands-on work

· 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment with shop floor experience

· Strong understanding of DFM/DFA, Kaizen, and lean manufacturing principles

· Strong verbal and written communication skills

· 3D CAD experience

· Experience with collaborative robots a plus

· Familiarity with PLC programming a plus

· Familiarity with SAP a plus
