Job description
A government entity position in Milton needs a full-time Gas Service Technician to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is looking for opportunities to learn and grow with a company that has strong expansion plans and to build a career within the business.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Ability to install gas mains, services, valves, regulators, regulator stations, and meters.
  • Ability to operate a backhoe, trencher, other types of excavating equipment, trucks, and various other power tools.
  • Ability to perform heavy manual labor and make repairs with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to troubleshoot systems, and make routine and emergency repairs.
  • Ability to withstand working outdoors under variable weather conditions and risks.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other employees and the general public.
What you’ll bring to the job:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Two (2) years of experience, in natural gas distribution systems, Installing, repairing, and maintaining lines, services, valves, meters, and regulators.
  • Employee must be able to obtain a class "A'' CDL within three (3) months.
  • Thorough knowledge of the skills necessary to repair, replace, and maintain natural gas distribution systems.
  • Must possess computer skills, be self-motivated and be able to work individually.
  • Knowledge of City geography.
  • Through knowledge of the techniques, procedures, and equipment used to join/weld various types and sizes of gas pipe and tubing.
  • Basic knowledge of the procedures used for installing gas pipes in underground trenches, restoration of disturbed surfaces, and repair of the pavement. Must be able to change registers and programs.
  • Basic knowledge of the procedures used to install various sizes and types of gas meters, valves and regulators.
  • Employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to hold or feel, reach with hands and arms, walk, talk, smell and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, crouch and crawl.
  • Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color and peripheral vision and depth perception.
  • The employee regularly lifts and/or moves up to 45 pounds and occasionally lifts and/or moves up to 90 pounds.
