Job description
This position is responsible for monitoring the entrance gate controlling traffic to and from buildings and grounds: Opens gate to allow entrance or exit of truckers, and authorized visitors. Checks credentials or approved roster before admitting anyone. Issues passes at own discretion or on instructions from superiors. Directs visitors and truckers to various parts of grounds or buildings. Inspects outgoing traffic to prevent unauthorized removal of company property or products. Provides other security related activities and administration as directed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Loss prevention associates are required to maintain an objective viewpoint while executing their duties.
  • Maintain the department’s code of conduct and confidentiality.
  • Maintain and manage card access and badge systems, as well as, create badges for new associates and decommission badges from separated associates.
  • Maintain and manage building key control and equipment key systems, as well as, assign and track equipment keys for new associates and decommission equipment keys due to expiration of equipment license or the separation of associates.
  • Monitor all fire, intrusion, and access control systems. Respond to and notify all appropriate individuals and agencies when alarms have been received.
  • Assist in the opening and closing of the building with management.
  • Assist in maintaining the emergency evacuation program and fire prevention program.
  • Perform various daily, weekly, monthly, and Quarterly audits and tasks regarding safety and security of the facility and all personnel within.
  • Respond to medical and other emergencies and provide first aid or any assistance when needed.
  • Monitor and maintain CCTV system and cameras on a regular basis.
  • Generate reports for the corporate headquarters and ensure accuracy and integrity in all reporting.
  • Aid in safety committee meetings and in correcting any safety issues from feedback received from the meetings.
  • Maintain safety awareness programs and help to resolve any safety concerns received from these programs.
  • Aid in maintaining all aspects of safety in the facility report all unsafe conditions or unsafe acts by other associates.
  • Adhere to all Lumber Liquidators safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Control all inbound and outbound trailer traffic. Ensure proper documentation has been completed and load bars/straps are installed before a trailer/delivery enters or leaves the facility.
  • Receive all associate feedback and or complaints on safety and security in a discrete and professional manor.
  • Aid in conducting quarterly fire and disaster drills. Document and help address all positive and negative issues regarding these drills.
  • Assist in safety orientations for all new associates to inform them of Lumber Liquidators’ safety policies and procedures.
  • Donate and/or destroy damaged or discontinued product and document these activities.
  • Greet various vendors and visitors coming into the facility.
  • Utilize various computer and data entry skills on a daily basis when working in an assortment of loss prevention software.
  • Conduct any other duties as requested by the Loss Prevention and Safety Manager/Supervisor.

  • Ability to operate scanning equipment
  • Ability to work safely with power tools.
  • Ability to effectively communicate directly with Supervisor, Leadsperson and peers.
  • Ability to read, write and speak clearly in English.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, square footage and distance.
  • Ability to understand and carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Related Experience, Qualifications and/or Certifications:
  • 6+ months of experience and demonstrated proficiency in required material handling skills needed to progress; or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Computer Skills / Special Equipment Knowledge:
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
