Job Description:
SUMMARY: The primary responsibility of the Savannah’s Maintenance Team Mechanic is to safely evaluate, repair, install, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems to meet required specifications and comply with applicable codes and plant standards.
- To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Must be able to work a flexible and rotating schedule
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED
- 3+ years of demonstrated experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience.
SKILLS:
- Adhere to all plant and company safety and environmental guidelines, policies, and procedures as well as actively participate in the safety program.
- Read and follow blueprints, sketches, and instructions, lay out and plan work in an orderly manner.
- Effectively operate drill press, electrical welding equipment, grinders, pipe threading equipment, and oxygen acetylene burning, welding, and cutting equipment.
- Must be finished mechanic and use above materials, equipment, and hand tools to troubleshoot, repair, install and inspect industrial equipment.
- Inspect and troubleshoot equipment for defects or malfunctions. Correct difficulties and/or report difficulties to the supervisor.
- Keep account of parts and materials used and notify supervisors when supplies are low.
- Partner with internal customers to identify the root cause of failures.
- Perform daily preventative maintenance inspections and evaluate for accuracy.
- Basic use of computer systems.
- Other duties as assigned.

The employee frequently is required to talk or hear. The employee is required to reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, or crouch, climb industrial ladders and steps, twist and bend.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fiberglass mat, asphalt, granules, fumes or airborne particles that fall below OSHA PELs. The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to vibration from machines.
The employee occasionally works in high places and above the floor level on catwalks and/or stairs, and is exposed to seasonally hot and cold weather.
