This position is located at CAMP PENDLETON, CALIFORNIA. Candidates selected for this position will serve as a MAINTENANCE MECHANIC NA-10.

Major Duties
Performs a variety of maintenance work involving various trade skills. Applies and demonstrates accepted methods, techniques, and applications common and complex to the various trades. Performs maintenance, renovation, construction, alterations, and repairs. Installs, modifies, and repairs new and existing utility, supply, and disposal systems and equipment such as sewage, water, oil, and gas distribution systems, and water closets, tubs, fire sprinkler systems, and showers. Works from building plans, blueprints and sketches. Performs special coating methods such as marbling and graining using coating materials prepared in special as well as common ways and by applying coating techniques that ensure surfaces have a smooth-textured and decorative appearance and meet thickness and level requirements.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Skills and Knowledge: Must be able to plan and complete Journeyman level work which demonstrates knowledge of the skills associated with a variety of trades including painting, masonry, plumbing and welding. Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills. Must have knowledge of the Uniform Building Code. Possession of a valid California driver's license.
Responsibility: Works under general supervision. The majority of the work is performed independently where the incumbent makes decisions based on personal knowledge. You may be required to execute overnight TAD
Physical Effort: Requires prolonged standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Lifts, carries, and sets up materials and equipment weighing up to 10 lbs. Occasionally may handle materials and equipment weighing 40 lbs. and over.
Working Conditions: Work is performed both inside and outside, and incumbent is exposed to dirt, paint vapors and fumes, scrapes, burns and cuts.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Satisfactorily complete all background checks in accordance with DoD and Marine Corps policy for employees who provide child care services. Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check with Inquiries and State Criminal History Repository Check (CNACI) background checks which are required for positions that involve working with children under 18 years of age. Must pass a pre-employment physical and annual physicals thereafter, provide evidence of immunization and be free from communicable disease. Must complete all DoD training requirements within the specified time including orientation, initial, DoD Standardized Module Training, and annual ongoing training requirements. Position is subject to both pre-employment and random drug testing as a condition of employment. A positive drug test, or failure to submit for testing, may become the basis for removal from this position.
