Role Summary
Alaska Airlines (AS) is seeking an Associate Maintenance Planner & Aircraft Router and/or a Maintenance Planner & Aircraft Router to join the Maintenance & Engineering team. As an individual contributor, this role will perform aircraft operational routing and systematic maintenance planning in support of a safe and compliant working environment in coordination with Operating Divisions, Maintenance & Engineering, and other divisions at Alaska Airlines.
Key Duties
Associate Maintenance Planner & Aircraft Router (Professional 1 level)
- Maintains strict standards of safety and compliance—this position has the responsibility, authority, and decision-rights to stop the operation (ground aircraft) for any safety or compliance related issue.
- Under the direction of the supervisor, works to plan, schedule, and communicate work priorities encompassing work in line aircraft maintenance stations.
- Focus on minimizing aircraft downtime and maximizing schedule reliability by planning system-wide aircraft maintenance in response to changes in the operation.
- Executes aircraft change requests.
- Plans ground time night-of maintenance operations.
- Plans basic staffed station workloads and balances facility capacity and capability.
- Executes basic planning/routing functions to support maintenance activities with operational groups in response to routing, scheduling, or planning revisions.
- Identifies straight forward operational aircraft swaps and recovery routing to focus on day of operations.
- Provides input into developing solutions to expeditiously facilitate the urgent completion of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Fleet Campaign Directives, and Engineering Orders.
- Participates in daily conference calls-collaborating with Maintenance Control, Materials/AOG desk, Line Managers, and Inspection.
- Supports line maintenance operations by balancing station workload, identifying task specific priorities, allocation of hangar capacity, and developing contingency plans for aircraft towing/remote operations.
Maintenance Planner & Aircraft Router (Professional 2 level)
- Maintains strict standards of safety and compliance—this position has the responsibility, authority, and decision-rights to stop the operation (ground aircraft) for any safety or compliance related issue.
- With limited direction from the supervisor, works independently to plan, schedule, and decide work priorities encompassing all areas of aircraft maintenance.
- Makes recommendations on minimizing aircraft downtime and maximizing schedule reliability by planning system-wide aircraft maintenance in response to changes in the operation.
- Analyzes aircraft change requests.
- Plans ground time for extended maintenance actions.
- Plans labor hour workloads and balances facility capacity and capability.
- Coordinates maintenance activities with operational groups in response to routing, scheduling, or planning revisions.
- Manages operational aircraft swaps and recovery routing to maintain optimal system performance.
- Takes initiative to develop solutions to expeditiously facilitate the urgent completion of Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Fleet Campaign Directives, and Engineering Orders.

Job-Specific Experience, Education & Skills
Associate Maintenance Planner & Aircraft Router (Professional 1 level)
Required
- Bachelor’s degree, or 2 years of experience in a related area in lieu of this degree.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook).
- Effective written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to make decisions in a real-time, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work with limited oversight and achieve results with minimal guidance.
- Able and willing to work weekends, holidays, and non-standard shifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred
- Airline industry experience.
- Maintenance planning experience.
- Knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures and FAA regulations.
- Computer applications experience with TRAX, Visops, Vismaint, Aerostrat, Tableau, Microsoft SQL.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification.
Maintenance Planner & Aircraft Router (Professional 2 level)
Required
- 2 years of experience in the areas of maintenance planning, aircraft routing, operations, business analytics, or aircraft and engine maintenance.
- Bachelor’s degree, or an additional 2 years of relevant training/experience in lieu of this degree.
- Strong computer skills-advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, Outlook).
- Effective written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
- Proven ability to make sound analytical decisions in a real-time, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and achieve results with limited oversight or guidance.
- Able and willing to work weekends, holidays, and non-standard shifts.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Minimum age of 18.
- Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
Preferred

Salary Range
$60,400-$108800 / year
Salary Details
Pay will be based on multiple factors, including and not limited to location, relevant experience/level and skillset while balancing internal equity relative to other Alaska/Horizon employees. Alaska/Horizon is committed to fair, unbiased compensation along with competitive benefits in all locations in which we operate.
