*Maintenance Technician

JOB SUMMARY:
Responsible for the performance of semi-skilled duties in the operation, maintenance and repair of buildings
and related facilities and systems; performs related work.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Some basic knowledge of heating and cooling system maintenance and repair.
2. Experienced in performing semi-skilled maintenance and repair involving carpentry, welding, plumbing,
electrical and general building maintenance trades work.
3. Knowledge of use and maintenance of tools and equipment normally associated with carpentry, welding,
mechanics, plumbing and electrical.
4. Written and oral communication required for the job with one (1) year experience for the job preferred.
5. Requires a valid driver’s license and/or a valid commercial driver’s license with special endorsements.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
1. Walking and/or standing approximately 95% of the day.
2. Sitting approximately 5% of the day.
3. Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs. without assistance
4. Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach over the head 90% of the day.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Replaces motors, fans, lights, starters, and auxiliary heat systems.
2. Repairs extension cords and changes light bulbs.
3. Assists journeyman electricians in new installations and repair.
4. Maintains and repairs faucets, sinks, drains, toilets, tubs, water heaters and water service and drain lines;
unplugs drain systems; repairs leaks and installs washers
5. Assists journeyman plumbers in the installation and remodeling of plumbing systems
6. Repairs damaged wall surfaces; maintains general appearance of building
7. Maintains and repairs heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; monitors boiler room by reading
gauges, ventilating and air conditioning systems; checks and repairs leaks in heating/cooling systems;
replaces thermostats, control can zone valves and power heads; changes/washes filters
8. Assumes additional duties as assigned by the Department Manager.
