General Description:

The Greater Chicago Food Depository is expanding its prepared meal production to meet the changing needs of food-insecure clients. The Manager of Prepared Meals plays a key role in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the prepared meal program, improving community health and supporting access to nutritious meals for older adults, adults with chronic health conditions or disabilities and individuals who are low-income. This highly collaborative role works directly with the Community Impact team and the Prepared Meal Operations team to support continued growth of this critical program, ensuring the needs and desires of the community we desire to serve is being met.

This role will be key in supporting the development and implementation of the client service functions of the work, including client onboarding and enrollment, client case management, identification, development and implementation of data management tools, and the development and implementation of operating procedures such as client intake, customer service, billing and reporting.

Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Oversee day-to-day logistics of managing prepared meal client portfolio including: screening, enrollment, dietary requirements, delivery logistics, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Inform the design and development of a client relationship management tool and other internal systems processes needed to ensure smooth day-to-day operations of the program.
  • Develop tools to track and document processes for various prepared meal distribution channels.
  • Work closely with meal production and transportation teams to ensure that partners receive balanced nutritional meals and superior customer service at delivery.
  • Work closely with Community Impact teams to ensure any utilization of prepared meals in Food Depository programs, including pantry partners and populations specific programmings, such as for older adults and people with disabilities, are meeting the needs of individuals served.
  • Communicate prepared meals program to a broad range of audiences including staff, partners and other key audiences.
  • Ensure strong oversight of programs to ensure all program partners operate according to the organization’s food service standards and funder expectations.
  • Develop and administer evaluation tools to get feedback from neighbors in coordination with the research and evaluation department.
  • Ensure strong collaboration and coordination across key internal stakeholders, including communications, finance, public policy, community impact and development teams.
  • Represent the Food Depository at conferences, coalition meetings and community groups.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 3-5 years relevant experience in relationship management, project management, program implementation and/or community health.
  • Experience with nutrition programs and client case management services strongly preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communications (including verbal, written, and presentation) skills including clear, persuasive, and dynamic communication skills across individual, small group and large audience settings.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively in a fluid environment, lead projects, meet multiple concurrent deadlines, and organize time and priorities.
  • Project management experience and the ability to advance work in collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong orientation towards customer service.
  • Proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications, as well as the ability to quickly learn new software programs and online platforms.
  • Knowledge of the landscape of older adult meal services and programs within Cook County, and across Illinois preferred
  • Must have access to a working vehicle, with valid insurance and possess a valid Illinois driver’s license.

Exposure:

  • Normal office environment with some exposure to warehouse environment
  • Ability to operate a sprinter van; drive and deliver meals throughout Cook County if needed.
  • Interacts with Greater Chicago Food Depository staff, program partners, agencies, clients, donors, and general public.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required, depending on program partner schedules.
