Alpha Moving Assistance is a Moving Labor Service Provider that is powered by mostly college student-athletes. We assist customers in the loading and unloading of their moving trucks, homes, storage units, pods, etc. in the Chicagoland area.
We are currently looking to hire new crew members from all backgrounds to help with the busy season that is fast approaching. We are looking for anyone who is strong, reliable, and can provide transport for themselves and sometimes co-workers to job sites in Chicago and the surrounding areas.
You do not have to be in school or an athlete to come and work with us and you will never be required to drive any trucks.
Moving Assistants get paid at a rate of $20/hr, while a promotion to Crew Lead raises the hourly wage to $22/hr. There is also a travel bonus of $2/10mi for traveling to the job site as well as a $6/10mi fuel reimbursement for those who are driving themselves, and/or others to the job site (Drivers earn $8/10mi and those riding along earn $2/10mi just for making the trip). It is not a requirement to have your own vehicle, although having one will allow you to pick up more jobs as well as earn more travel bonuses/fuel reimbursements. Payday is weekly on Fridays, with the pay cycle running Wed-Tues., so any work done up until Tuesday evening gets paid on that same Friday.
Duties of a Moving Assistant include: Arriving on time to the site of any jobs that they are scheduled to work, greeting and working with customers in a friendly and professional manner, and working as a team with your fellow crew members to lift and carry customer’s furniture, boxes, etc. in a safe and controlled manner.
Duties of a Crew Lead include: All of the duties of a moving assistant as well as, keeping constant communication with the area coordinator about travel arrangements to the job site and expected arrival times, heading up communication with the customer upon arrival at the job site, and relaying any pertinent information regarding the job back to the area coordinator.
As a part-time employee of Alpha Moving Assistance, you are never required to work any specific jobs/hours. Upon onboarding, you will be placed into a group message where the date, time, crew size, duration, and location of all jobs are sent out. Picking up jobs is as easy as saying "I'm available" and then confirming whenever the specific details of the job have been sent to you and the other member(s) of your crew for that job.
As a newer, growing company there will be opportunities to move into management roles and grow with the company as we continue to build strong customer bases in our current service areas (Central IL and Chicagoland), and expand to new service areas. Full-time positions will be available soon and will often be offered to high performing and experienced Moving Assistants and Crew Leads.
