POSITION: NR Fisheries Technician I/II (Seasonal)

SALARY: Tech I $15.78 - 18.30/hour DOE | Tech II $16.98 - 19.68/hour DOE

REPORTS TO: Biologist Senior

LOCATION: Inchelium, WA

Basic Functions: The incumbent of this position will work under the direction of the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation (CTCR) Resident Fish Division lead biologists for the Non-Native Predator Removal projects. The principal duties of this position will include field work studies related to the non-native species removal programs in Lake Roosevelt. Duties will include, but are not limited to, boat and backpack electrofishing surveys, gillnetting surveys, fyke net surveys, weir and/or screw trap studies, eDNA and DNA studies, and radio/or acoustic telemetry studies. The incumbent will also perform laboratory duties including data entry, equipment maintenance, fish aging studies, and fish diet studies. This position requires driving, lifting, pulling, hauling, and working in incremental weather. The incumbent must be able to work long hours, may be required to travel, and may be required to work some weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Education and Training:

For Natural Resource Technician I:

  • HS Diploma or GED and satisfactory work history.

For Natural Resource Technician II:

  • An AA Degree in the applicable science (must submit transcripts for credit) OR;
  • HS Diploma or GED AND 36 months related experience in fisheries.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic knowledge of Lake Roosevelt fish species and ability to correctly identify preferred. Basic knowledge of biological data collection preferred.
  • Must have work history with no documented performance issues with any employer (verification of past performance will be accomplished by reference checks).
  • Must be able to work independently and follow instructions out to completion.
  • Towing and backing boat experience, preferred.
  • Must be in excellent physical condition and will be expected to pull, push, or lift heavy objects performing tasks on variable and slippery terrain in all weather conditions.

Note: Pursuant to Tribal Policy, if this position is safety sensitive it is subject to pre-employment drug testing. In addition, this position is subject to reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug testing.


TRIBAL MEMBER AND INDIAN PREFERENCE WILL APPLY; PREFERENCE WILL ALSO BE GIVEN TO HONORABLY DISCHARGED VETERANS WHO ARE MINIMALLY QUALIFIED.


If required of this position, you must possess and maintain a valid Washington State driver’s license and be eligible for the Tribes’ Vehicle Insurance. In addition, this position may be subject to pre-employment background clearances. If applicable, these clearances must be maintained throughout employment.
