Job Summary:

Our Residential Youth Counselors are in charge of providing individual and group skills training as well as direct supervision for youth living in our home. All youth in the program have faced high levels of sexual abuse, physical abuse, and most often systemic and generational trauma. This role is integral as Residential Youth Counselors spend the most time with the youth and serve as models of healthy hygiene, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

Duties include: facilitating therapeutic groups; providing daily mentoring and supervision of daily tasks and responsibilities, maintaining an empathetic and supportive environment, balancing safety with fun prosocial engagement, participating in youth’s treatment plan and ensuring complete and accurate documentation; providing crisis intervention as needed using the Mandt crisis intervention model; as well as medication distribution. The staff member will be present as a positive and compassionate role model for youth in our program.

Schedule and Working Conditions:

Shifts are scheduled as day (7 AM-3 PM), swing (215 PM-1015 PM), and overnight (930 PM-730 AM). The team member may be expected to work hours that vary in times. Though covering an occasional overnight is helpful it is not required for the position. Reliable transportation is necessary due to the house not being located near public transportation. Driving the work vehicle requires an individual to have no more than 3 traffic violations in the last 3 years.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree, and ability to obtain a QMHA-R within 90 days of hire
• Must successfully pass required background checks prior to beginning employment, including a DMV Driving Record Check.
• Knowledge of the impact of trauma and experience working with disadvantaged and high-risk youth.
• Effective communication skills and ability to provide culturally-competent treatment services to diverse client populations.
• Willingness to learn and thrive in a team environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• 2-3 years of related experience
• Fluency in Spanish pay differential offered
• Personalities that are creative, empathetic, resilient, caring, and compassionate tend to do very well in this role.
• Ability to engage with adolescents in creative ways
• Desire to spend time with our 6 therapy goats

Compensation + Benefits:

• Pay: $22.76-$24.00/hour
