Program Coordinator, Surgical Services

Shift: Day shift (Monday- Friday)

Job Description:
The Pogram Coordinator for Surgical Services is responsible for scheduling surgeries for assigned physician(s). Responsibilities include coordinating surgical procedures with multiple hospitals and surgery centers, scheduling and obtaining pre-operative testing, writing and communicating surgery orders, and collecting necessary documentation for surgeries. This individual works closely with patients, physicians, and surgery location to providing accurate, timely, and responsive paperwork. The Posting Coordinator is under moderate supervision, schedules all surgery and block cases assuring that the schedule operates in an orderly fashion by communicating and interacting with OR, PACU, Admitting and surgeon offices.

Additional Responsibilities:
1.)Performs duties in a manner that is consistent with the hospital's core values and the language of caring habits.

2.) Attends mandatory departmental meetings, hospital in-services, and continuing education programs to keep informed of new developments affecting hospital initiatives and his/her area of expertise.

3.) Participates on Continuous Improvement Teams as required. Performs tasks necessary for maintenance and improvement of his/her functional area within the department.

SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED :
1. Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT codes.

2. Excellent communication skills essential.

3. Proficiency in Microsoft Word.

4. Must be able to type 35 wpm.
