We are currently seeking a Prototype Test Technician for our St. Clair Shores, Michigan location. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting our prototype and product development teams within our corporate test lab.

RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Lead development of cut and etch procedures and documentation
  • Lead the development of FMVSS destructive testing procedures and documentation
  • Lead the development of all other testing procedures and documentation of new / existing equipment
  • Perform sound / vibration analysis testing and documentation · Create / Modify DVP&R’s and PVP&Rs as necessary
  • Perform prototype or pre-production work tasks as needed for mechanisms and/or structures
  • Provide feedback on product and processing issues and offer improvements
  • Alert supervisor and engineering managers of any unusual performance or dimensional outcomes
  • Adhere to customer test schedules and SBO/job assignment deadlines Report daily work output and delivery status in verbal or written form
  • Train assemblers / builders / contract employees as necessary to testing procedures
  • Data entry and monitoring of all measured components
  • Maintain adherence to established procedures and guidelines
  • Actively support Plex system integration and usage

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Technical training and a minimum of three years automotive experience and/or experience and education in the following areas:
  • Metal prototype shops (tier 1 and 2)
  • Product testing with a focus on FMVSS, weld integrity, and vibration/sound testing
  • Seat, track, and mechanism production assembly environment with extensive exposure to different product designs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Professional report-from-template writing skills
  • Ability to interpret customer specifications from documents or drawings (weld requirements, force requirements, etc.)
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
  • Ability to meet customer test schedules and SBO assignment deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and Microsoft Office Applications

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Prototype/Test lab environment

Position requires overtime with limited notice

Limited travel within localized area. Position may require use of personal vehicle

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to lift and fixture a variety of parts onto test equipment (20-60 lbs.)

Pay: $22.00 - $23.10 per hour
