QUALITY CONTROL INSPECTOR
The Company
Modern Aviation (the “Company”) launched in 2017 and is focused on the fixed-based operator (“FBO”) sector. The Company has been rapidly growing through the acquisition of FBO locations and has significant additional committed capital from its sponsors to continue to grow the business through future acquisitions. Modern Aviation is looking for a Quality Chief Inspector to join our growing team. We need a technician that can fit in quickly, have a positive attitude, and have General Aviation and Corporate experience.
Primary Purpose of the Position
The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring an inspection program which ensures aircraft are maintained in conformity with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations and manufacturers specifications. The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for checking the workmanship, material, standards, and procedures of the Modern Aviation maintenance activities. Reports discrepancies noted to the Director of Maintenance. Performs inspection of work accomplished by airframe and powerplant mechanics.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
  • This is a "hands on" position. The Quality Control Inspector will perform and supervise, Installations, maintenance, modifications, and repairs on articles listed on the repair stations approved capabilities listing.
  • Ensures that all maintenance and alterations performed by this repair station are in accordance with the Ratings and Operations Specifications of the FAA 145 repair station.
  • Ensure consistent, accurate aircraft maintenance records by properly documenting & completing required forms, computer entries, and logbook entries in accordance with Federal Aviation Regulations.
  • Trains, directs, and assists all personnel performing work under the repair station certificate as directed by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Ensures that all housing, facilities, equipment, materials, and data meet the applicable requirements for the certificate and ratings of this Repair Station.
  • Determines equivalency of tools and equipment used by the repair station and documents that determination.
  • Ensures all technical data provided in the instructions for continued airworthiness, service bulletins, service letters, airworthiness directives, government and industry standard practices and other data acceptable to or approved by the FAA, are current and available to persons performing maintenance and alterations on articles.
  • Ensures all inspectors are thoroughly familiar with the inspection methods, techniques, aids, tools, and equipment used within their assigned area of responsibility.
  • Ensure appropriate calibrations and checks are made on the tools and equipment used by the repair station.
  • Reports any identified risks associated with the repair station to the Director of Maintenance.
  • Performs all actions required for Return to Service.
  • Manages all Continuous Improvement efforts on behalf of the repair station as directed by the Director of Maintenance.
  • Communicates professionally and effectively employees, customers and the FAA as required.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner.
  • Punctual to work each day and prepared to work scheduled work hours.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED plus relevant certifications required at the minimum.
  • Experience working in an FAA Repair Station that follows and complies with FAA 145 Ratings and Operations Specifications.
  • Active and current FAA Airframe and Powerplant Mechanics License with current FAA Inspection Authorization.
  • Minimum of 3 years of inspection experience.
  • Must have a thorough understanding of the applicable Federal Aviation Regulations, as well as inspection methods, techniques, and equipment used to determine the quality or airworthiness of an article undergoing maintenance, repair, or alterations.
  • A proven track record of consistent performance while delivering high levels of customer service to internal and external customers is required.
  • Strong leadership traits with a focus on good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated record of integrity and sound ethical judgment.
  • Must demonstrate commitment to quality and safety in all maintenance.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to professionally communicate with customers.
  • Strong business acumen, ability to understand the needs of users and address conflicts, competing priorities as necessary.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage others effectively while remaining calm under stress.
  • Possess adequate tools.
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Five years of experience at a repair Station or MRO strongly preferred.
Work Hours:
  • Monday through Friday.

Location: Fernando Luis Rivas Dominicci Airport (TJIG), San Juan Puerto Rico.
