What You Will Do as a Registered Dietitian

As a Registered Dietitian, you will be responsible for assessing nutritional needs and providing nutrition care for all patients. You will work closely with the Dietary Services Manager, physician, and the interdisciplinary team to recommend and implement nutritional care. Some of your primary responsibilities include:

  • Completing initial and periodic nutrition assessments for all patients

  • Writing individualized patient care plans and updating them as needed in collaboration with the Dietary Services Manager

  • Collaborating with the center interdisciplinary team and recommending nutrition related interventions to improve/maintain patient’s nutritional status

  • Assessing patients with increased nutrient needs and reviewing at risk patients to include to those with skin deficits, weight loss/gain, enteral nutrition requirements, hemodialysis, etc.

  • Monitoring practices that promote and maintain sanitary practices that meet or exceed regulatory requirements

  • Working with the Dietary Services Manager to coordinate the RAI process to include MDS and CAAs

Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited dietetics or nutrition program at the bachelor’s level

  • Registered by the Commission on Dietetics

  • Licensed by the Board of Licensed Dietitians

  • Completed at least 900 hours of supervised dietetics practice under a registered dietitian or nutrition professional
