Job description

A security attendant for EPACENTER will be responsible for monitoring all areas of the grounds and reporting suspicious activities to local authorities. This position will monitor surveillance cameras but is also expected to visually inspect the property via foot patrol. Daily tasks will include assisting with check-in and check-out procedures for visitors and guests, as well as monitoring EPACENTER staff and public who attend the center. Shifts will range from 5-6 hours during the week and 8-8.5 hours on weekends. We are hiring for day, swing and graveyard shifts.
EPACENTER is a newly built music and arts center in East Palo Alto. After business hours, the top priority of the security attendant will be to ensure the property is secure. This includes but is not limited to, checking to make sure all windows, doors and gates are locked, and to escort trespassers and other unwelcome parties off the premises. Expected to performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

• Must have ability to speak and understand conversational English.
• Excellent observational skills and attention to detail.
• Authoritative verbal communication skills.
• Ability to remain calm in high-pressure situations.
• Ability to learn the layout of the property and buildings.
• Highly conscientious and responsible.
• Ability to follow EPACENTER procedures.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Guard Card or equivalent security guard training certification preferred.
• Previous experience a plus, but not required.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to patrol the property and access areas on foot quickly.
• Ability to maintain audio and visual vigilance for extended periods of time.
• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and monitoring surveillance equipment.
• Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
