We are looking for a (Senior) Scientist with a background in recombinant protein production and purification to join the Protein Production and Profiling team responsible for the small-scale production and biophysical characterization of NANOBODY® proteins.

Main responsibilities

• Manage a small team of Associate Scientists and supervise experimental design, data interpretation and documentation related to small-scale production ( E. coli , P. pastoris and mammalian cells), purification and quality control of NANOBODY® proteins in medium throughput for in vitro testing
• Represent the team within therapeutic project teams and communicate experimental results during team and project meetings
• Contribute to technology development, suggest and assess new methodologies and approaches
• More experienced candidates are expected to take up a significant role in coordinating therapeutic/technology project-related activities as ‘Discovery Leads’ and contribute to the design of the experimental strategy during the NANOBODY® protein discovery phase
• Prepare reports, summaries, manuscripts, and other documents as appropriate

About you

• (Fresh) PhD in Biochemistry/Biotechnology or equivalent
• Strong scientific background in Molecular Biology and Protein Sciences
• Proficient hands-on experience in recombinant protein production and purification including use of automated systems (e.g. AKTA protein purifier systems, TECAN/JANUS + Atoll robocolumns…)
• Team player, analytical mindset, sense of initiative and self-motivated
• Excellent communication skills are essential – fluency in English (spoken and written) is expected
• Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
• Skills and qualifications that are considered a plus:
  • Prior experience with physico-chemical characterization of proteins (solubility, stability, post-translational modifications)
  • Prior experience with supervision of people
  • Prior experience with protein expression in mammalian cells
