Responsibilities & Qualifications:
BOEM and BSEE are responsible for managing the nation’s offshore energy, minerals, and natural resources on the Federal Outer Continental Shelf (OCS). BSEE promotes safety, protects the environment, and conserves resources offshore through vigorous regulatory oversight and enforcement. BOEM manages the responsible exploration and development of offshore energy and marine mineral resources on the OCS. OCS production accounts for about 18 percent of domestic crude oil and four percent of domestic natural gas supply.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide security assessment and authorization support, including but not limited to vulnerability management services, reviewing security logs, scheduling and ad-hoc scanning of applications, STIG compliance scans, completing ATC processes, and creating/updating security documentation.
  • Provide cybersecurity support for updates including Risk Management Framework (RMF) process
  • Coordinate and complete processes for new and updated systems
  • Perform security control assessments
  • Prepare risk assessments
  • Provide cybersecurity support for updates
  • Ensure timely notifications are made to responsible individuals and stakeholders in order to prevent lapses in authorizations and Plan of Actions and Milestones (POA&M) (i.e., 30-, 60-, and 90-day notices).
  • Perform application security scans
  • Advise on application and system risks, risk mitigation, courses of action, and operational recommendations
  • Remain up-to-date on cybersecurity trends, threats, common exploits, policies, procedures, and industry best practices related to application development.
  • Provide POA&M support for correcting or mitigating any weaknesses
  • Track POA&M and provide regular status updates.
  • Performs all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction.
  • May be involved with databases, networks, stand-alone microcomputers, mainframes, or minicomputers.
  • Interfaces with the user community to understand their security needs and implements procedures to provide support.
  • Ensures that the user community understands and adheres to necessary procedures to maintain security.
  • Conducts evaluation of the level of security provided.
  • Conduct required security audits and certifications.
  • Assists in the development of policy and accreditation roadmaps.
Advises on compliance with federal security directives
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Eight years of technical information technology experience, including 6 years of information systems security experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Computer Science or a related field.
  • DOI Background Investigation, Entry on Duty
