POSITION: Sports Manager

POSITION PURPOSE:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Employees must be able and willing to work well with a team and consistently comply with all supervisory direction.
  • Employees must be interested in working with adults on the autism spectrum. They must possess the interpersonal skills to be enthusiastic and bring a high level of energy into the position.
  • Employees must be able to drive, possess a valid driver's license, and have use of an automobile to travel to and from recreational venues and the Retreat, and for the, transportation of members.
  • Employees must have proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Mail).

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Erik’s Ranch & Retreats is currently seeking a Sports Manager to join our team! Our Sports Manager will be responsible for teaching and leading young adults on the autism spectrum in strength and cardio workouts in a state-of-the-art gym, off-road cycling/dirt biking, kayaking, skiing, hiking and rock climbing, soccer and football games, footraces and more.

ABOUT ERIK'S RANCH & RETREATS:

Founded in 2008, Erik’s Ranch & Retreats, a 501 c (3) not-for-profit organization, is an innovative living, working and social environment for young adults with autism at its two destination locations: Erik’s Retreat in Edina, Minn., and Erik’s Ranch, in Paradise Valley, Mont. Not only are both locations home to young adults with autism, but what sets Erik’s Ranch & Retreats apart is that these young adults operate the boutique-style/guest ranch accommodations at its two destination locations.

SCHEDULE:

Monday through Friday between 9am-6pm with one evening 1pm-9pm.

SERVICE DELIVERY:

  • Deliver effective support services.
  • Prepare sufficiently in advance to ensure successful completion of each scheduled meeting/activity.
  • Develop training materials as necessary and ensure the quality of their appearance.
  • Document each meeting/activity to be included in monthly progress reports.
  • Maintain confidentiality of member and parent information according to the needs and wishes of those concerned. It is the responsibility of the Sports Manager to be aware of all privacy standards and to report any violations to their supervisor.
  • Complete additional tasks as assigned by the Senior Life Plan Coach/VP of Membership.

ASSESSMENT AND EVALUATION:

A. Collect and record data for each goal as written and instructed by the Senior Life Plan Coach and VP Membership.

B. Develop sufficient familiarity, through hands with the individuals and environments, in order to effectively provide support..

C. Assist the Senior Life Plan Coach in conducting necessary assessments of target objectives to meet the needs of the members in those environments.

COMMUNICATIONS

  • Communicate in a clear and professional manner.
  • Relay information to team members in a timely manner.
  • Encourage a team-approach to developing and implementing and procedures and program development.
  • Report all difficulties with workload, significant incidents, concerns, and dissatisfactions to VP Membership immediately.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Comply and cooperate with Erik’s Ranch, Inc policy and procedures regarding personnel practices.
  • Obtain consultation with supervisors and qualified personnel to ensure that services are effective, appropriate, and state-of-the-art.
  • Appropriately utilize the time-reporting system for reimbursement in a timely manner as directed by the VP Membership.
  • Comply with all corrective feedback given by the Senior Life Plan Coach and VP Membership.
  • Physical demands. There are a number of physical demands, vision requirements and different work environments associated with this position. These expectations are required in order to fulfill the role of this position.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Work on a ranch assisting in care of animals and outdoor environments.

  • Work Environment. Employees will be working in the member’s home, community, and in cold/hot outdoor weather conditions as needed to fulfill the life plan objectives.

EVALUATION:

Ongoing evaluation of the employee’s work performance relative to the assignments specified above will occur consistently throughout employment. These work performance standards, jointly agreed upon by the Life Plan Coach/Behavior Therapist and the VP Membership will be used as criteria for evaluating performance when applicable. It is further understood that these may be modified with concurrence of the Life Plan Coach/Behavior Therapist and the VP Membership.
