Job Summary

This Senior Technology Project Manager invests in the future of Southwest’s People by supporting the Integrated Data Foundation (IDF) Analytics Team which partners with Internal Customers to create solutions that enable better informed, timely , and data-driven decisions regarding day-to-day operations. This role is tasked with creating a vision and strategic roadmap for the data products owned and supported by the IDF Teams supporting Technical Operations (Tech Ops), Crew, and Safety/Regulatory data domains. The Senior Technology Project Manager has a strategic mindset and is excited to contribute to impactful initiatives that drive the future of Southwest Airlines.
Additional details:
This role is offered as a remote workplace position, which may require travel for training , meetings, conferences, etc. Outside of those required visits, the majority of your working time may be spent in a remote location, away from our Corporate Campus. Please note, while this is a remote position, there is limited group of states or localities ineligible for Employees to regularly perform their work off-site. Those ineligible locations are: Alaska , Delaware, New Jersey, North Dakota, South Dakota, Vermont, West Virginia, and Wyoming.

Responsibilities
Partner with Technology Managers and Directors to lead large Technology projects/programs in support of department or enterprise strategic plans
Serve as a project Leadership resource responsible for driving analysis, recommendations, decisions and delivery
Define complex project plans/roadmaps for multiple simultaneous projects or for a single highly complex project or program including scope, budget and schedule and execute tasks defined in the project plan to achieve project goals using standard project management methodologies and practices
Work with development and application teams to breakdown work into smaller components or features and to identify critical path
Drive testing and acceptance of project or program results across multiple teams
Mentor and coach other Project Managers
Monitor risks, issues, and scope proactively, ensuring the appropriate level of priority, visibility and escalation
Communicate plan and all relevant components such as risk, schedules, expectations and ongoing updates to Stakeholders, Sponsors and Project Teams to maintain project alignment
Build partnerships to collaborate and use influence to gather Customer and business requirements and communicate effectively with all project Teams and support groups
Work with partner teams across portfolios to plan (define scope of dependencies), to track execution of work, and to visualize the full scope of work including business capabilities and architectural runway
May perform other job duties as directed by Employee's Leaders
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Expert knowledge of project processes, problem management tools and procedures
Advanced knowledge of Agile development practices and ceremonies
Advanced knowledge of application impact on operational and business functions
Skilled in proficient financial acumen to interpret corporate financial analysis and financial statements
Skilled in strong Customer Service and Team orientation
Ability to assume a high level of responsibility and provide direction in a Team-oriented environment, directing tasks to finish by scheduled completion date
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, at all levels
Ability to manage highly sensitive and confidential information
Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, collaborative, Team based environment and maintain composure under pressure and accurately assess problem situations
Skilled in Leadership to direct performance of outside Contractors and maintain positive relations with internal Customers
Education
Required: High School Diploma or GED
Experience
Required: Expert-level experience, expansive and far - reaching knowledge in project management
Preferred: Working knowledge of databases and data warehousing platforms (Oracle, SQL, Teradata)
Preferred: Working knowledge of data domain including data engineering & ETL concepts
Preferred: Working knowledge of data migration concepts & strategy (on- prem to Cloud-native platforms)
Preferred: Working knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, EMR, Glue, Cloud Formation, Redshift along with developing & maintaining data pipelines using AWS cloud-native solutions
Preferred: Working knowledge of Airline domain, specifically Technical Operations, Maintenance & Crew related operational systems
Preferred: Expert level knowledge of Scaled Agile ( SAFe ) principles
Preferred: Expert knowledge of intake demand processes, Epic decomposition (into prioritized Features) and non-functional requirements gathering
Preferred: Expert knowledge of project processes, problem management tools and procedures
Preferred: Expert knowledge of MS Project, Visio, MS Office Suite including SharePoint
Licensing/Certification
Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO)
Advanced Certified Scrum Product Owner (A-CSPO)
Certified Scrum Professional - Product Owner (CSP-PO)
SAFe Product Owner - Product Manager (POPM)
Physical Abilities
Ability to perform work duties from limited space work station /desk/office area for extended periods of time
Ability to communicate and interact with others in the English language to meet the demands of the job
Ability to use a computer and other office productivity tools with sufficient speed and accuracy to meet the demands of the job
Other Qualifications
Must maintain a well-groomed appearance per Company appearance standards as described in established guidelines
Must be a U.S. citizen or have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986
Must be at least 18 years of age
Must be able to comply with Company attendance standards as described in established guidelines
Pay & Benefits:
Competitive market salary from $124,550 per year to $138,400 per year* depending on qualifications and experience. For eligible Leadership and individual contributor roles, additional bonus opportunities are available and awarded at the discretion of the Company.
