The Supportive Housing Support Specialist I provides support to the OMH Supportive Housing program. This individual will assist the Program Supervisors and Operations Directors in implementing agency policies and procedures regarding rent, income, leasing, and debt strategy.
Responsibilities:
- Work with the people we support in OMH Supportive Housing to obtain annual income verification
- Ensure the completion of annual rent worksheets based on income
- Draft annual leases for individuals residing in OMH Supportive Housing and ensure they are complete, signed and submitted to the Vice President for review and approval, prior to the beginning of lease term.
- Monitor the monthly rental payments for all individuals in OMH Supportive Housing.
- Monitor and review the debt strategy for OMH Supportive Housing individuals.
- Draft arrears payment plans and present to individuals as appropriate. Track compliance with arrears payment plans.
- Acts as a liaison between individuals and landlords.
- Provide weekly and monthly updates to Vice President regarding aforementioned job functions.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in a Human Services field required
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
- Must hold a valid New York State Driver’s License and must meet FREE’s driver policy criteria to be considered an agency driver.
- Experience working with individuals diagnosed with mental illness and/or substance abuse disorders preferred.
