Job Description: Under the leadership of the Quality Supervisor, the primary role of the Quality Technician is the inspection of First Article (FA) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) products and the associated reporting. The Quality Technician will ensure that FA/PPAP products shipped meet the expectations of the customer and are delivered right the first time including any of the associated identification and documentation requirements. The right candidate must be considered actively engaged and embrace United Alloy s Character and Culture vision.

Shift: 2nd Shift – 2:00pm – 10:00pm; Monday - Friday

Reports To: Quality Supervisor

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Creation of FA/PPAP paperwork documents including balloon drawings.
  • Work with Production & Engineering to ensure that all FA/PPAP products meet the expectations of the customer prior to shipment.
  • Inspection of FA/PPAP products and the associated reporting (customer portals or other method/s.)
  • Maintain FA/PPAP status in apps/databases & files both physical and electronic.
  • UL 2085 / STI reporting and submission.
  • Cross Checks product and subcomponents as applicable at each stage of the process utilizing the prints/drawings, traveler, inspection sheets, Control Plan and Visual Criteria.
  • Identification, reporting, and troubleshooting of nonconforming product.
  • Training of quality expectations to personnel when changes or updates to the inspection process have been made.
  • Assists with the plant wide communication of Quality Alerts or Quality concerns.
  • Perform incoming inspections of new products and customer returns.
  • Has the authority to stop production when nonconforming parts are detected.
  • Assist Quality Auditors and other functions of the Quality Department as needed.
  • Adherence to the Quality Policy and expectations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) is required.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a related Quality Function.
  • Functional experience and use of measurement equipment (Tape measure, Caliper, Protractor, etc.…).
  • Experience with Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) a plus.
  • The individual must have a solid understanding of metal fabrication concepts and processes.
  • The individual must possess a keen sense of attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be able to determine material types and gauges.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints including a strong understanding of weld prints and weld call outs.
  • Must be able to navigate in a Windows based computer environment utilizing Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and Word).

Work Environment: Ability to perform in a manufacturing environment that may have high noise levels, dust, chemicals, oil, and grease. Ability to work in an environment that may be either hot, cold, or humid.
