Williamson County Government Emergency Communications Department is accepting applications for a full-time 911 Dispatcher/Telecommunicator.

Job Summary: Under supervision of the Emergency Communications Supervisor, monitors multiple phone lines and radio frequencies in order to receive and respond to emergency and non-emergency calls from citizens, emergency personnel and first responder agencies within Williamson County.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Receives and responds to emergency and non-emergency calls from the general public, law enforcement, and other public safety agencies.
2. Seeks information from callers such as names, locations, and reasons for call.
3. Based on training and approved guidelines, evaluates purpose of the received call, determines the correct response, and dispatches the appropriate agencies, personnel, and resources needed
4. Inputs and retrieves information from law enforcement databases regarding wanted persons, stolen vehicles, etc.
5. Monitors and records location of law enforcement officers to ensure their safety and efficiency of dispatch.
6. Quickly and accurately enters pertinent call information into the Computer Assisted Dispatch (CAD) software.
7. Collaborates with supervisors, co-workers, and appropriate emergency services to address the needs of callers.
8. Assists in the training of new telecommunicators, through shadowing, simulations, and other methods.
9. Maintain up-to-date knowledge on the operation of radio and telecommunication systems.
10. Performs other duties as assigned.

• Be able to input information accurately into computer software.
• Must be detail oriented.

Education and/or Experience:
High School Diploma (or its equivalent) required. Preference will be given to those with emergency telecommunications experience.

Physical Demands:

• For communications purposes, must be able to hear and speak clearly over the phone and radio
• Ability to reach for and use office equipment such as phones, printers, and keyboards.
• Stamina for sedentary console operation.
• Be able to lift up to 25lbs.

Work Environment:
Office setting with a busy atmosphere comprised of many different simultaneous sensory inputs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.65 - $24.92 per hour
