ACADEMIC COACHDuties will include: Develop and maintain strong collaborative relationships with teachers.Providing instructional support and coaching to teachers to ensure every student can reach their potential.This includes: Modeling lessons.Supporting teachers in the ongoing design or revisions of unit plans and lesson plans.Developing clear learning targets, rigorous tasks, and measurable criteria forsuccess.Planning, leading and assessing the impact of student-centered coaching that embeds data-driven practicesto support the needs of all students.Observing instruction and providing non-evaluative feedback to enhance and support the development ofthe teacher to support student's academic achievement and growth. Providing feedback specific to district-wide instructional focus areas.Working with the academic staff (department chairs, coaches, assistant principals, principals) in the school tosupport sharing of best practicesWork with district teams and leaders to improve student learning outcomes in all content areasTeam to analyze school-wide and district-wide trends in instruction and make recommendations about potentialnext steps to build off of strengths and further develop areas needing improvement. Continuously monitor, track and analyze student achievement and growth data in order to identify needed supports and strategies.Plan and facilitate professional development.Research, prepare materials, and identify resources with the curriculum department to improve teaching and learning.Support the horizontal and vertical alignment of the curriculum.Reports to the Building Principal and Assistant Superintendent. .Qualifications: Bachelors DegreeMassachusetts DESE Certification as an Elementary and/ or Middle School Teacher Experience working with young learners, coaching teachers, and delivering professional development.A deep understanding of theories of literacy, including the diagnostic teaching of reading and reading interventionAn understanding of the Massachusetts State Standards, current trends, and best practices in curriculum design and instructionAt least 3 years of elementary school teaching experience serving low-income studentsExperience coaching, leading, and supporting teachersStrong record of helping students achieve academic success, primarily with low-income studentsExperience with curriculum development and daily lesson planningExperience in analyzing data and using results to modify curriculaMulti-faceted, multi-skilled, resourceful, and willing to do whatever it takes to help our students reach a level ofacademic excellenceModel positive and healthy character traits and habits, such as being organized, consistent, and understanding
