Cedar Hills Hospital is a 98-bed behavioral health facility in Portland, Oregon dedicating to healing our patients’ minds and bodies through a combination of high-quality clinical services and holistic healing practices.

We are seeking an Assessment Director with an interest or background in behavioral health to join our team and to support our patients in our Inpatient Program.

The Assessment Director is responsible and accountable for directing the assessment and referral activities at the inpatient hospital. As a clinician, this position provides direction to a staff of assessment counselors and nurses in the provision of psychiatric assessment services, including clinical evaluations, nursing assessments, crisis intervention, and referrals to external partners. This position interfaces closely with the medical staff, nursing staff, fellow department heads and administration, external case managers, referral sources, managed care organizations, and functions as a liaison with hospital emergency departments. This position also oversees the hospital's receptionists.

Position Requirements:

Education: Master's degree from an accredited college or university in Social Work, psychiatric nursing, counseling, marriage and family therapy or another clinical degree in the mental health field.

Experience: A minimum of five (5) years direct clinical experience in a psychiatric or mental health setting is desirable. Working knowledge of the Addiction & Recvoery field and experience in clinical interviewing, patient assessment, family motivation, treatment planning, communicating with external review organizations or comparable entities, and working effectively with people of diverse backgrounds.

Licensure: Licensure is preferred. Registered Nurse in the State of Oregon, Licensed Clinical Social worker (LCSW), Licensed Practical Counselor (LPC), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). Prefer that the new hire is able to commit to acquiring licensure within one year of hire.

Additional Requirements: A Successful completion of Crisis Management and Service Excellence training must occur within 90 days of employment and prior to assisting in any restraining procedures. May be required to work occasional overtime and flexible hours.
