Job Summary

The Assistant Director supports efforts to maintain and grow institutional global partnership at the University of Chicago. In addition to providing research and analysis of partnership opportunities, the Assistant Director facilitates the review process, tracking, renewal, and reporting of the University’s institutional memorandum of understandings with international partners and works in close coordination with the Office of Legal Counsel and relevant administrative units on campus.

This role manages academic, research, clinical or administrative programs of the University.
Responsibilities
  • Researches and identifies potential strategic partners, effectively presents the opportunities with a general understanding of UChicago’s research landscape and administrative processes.
  • Researches and analyzes requests from external partners who want to engage with the University of Chicago. Provides background information to constituents within the University about new and possible opportunities.
  • Provides information related to the rules of engagement, articulate, and present guidelines to units and divisions, create and document processes to assist in the facilitation of engagement, partnership agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs).
  • Manages review process, tracking, renewal, and reporting of the University of Chicago's institutional MOUs with international partners.
  • Maintains working relationships with key University stakeholders to capture faculty and University engagement across the world. Provides University staff and faculty with resources available on campus and works to surface opportunities for networking, funding, and student engagement, among other opportunities.
  • Builds working relationships and identifies opportunities for engagement with counterparts of the Global Office at peer institutions in select regions.
  • Works closely with the Office of Legal Counsel and administrators in units across campus and serves as a resource for University administrative processes and general guidance.
  • Researches and develops written documents and memos, and contributes to the creation of briefing materials, presentations, and reporting for executive leadership.
  • Analyzes program budgets and recommends or makes budgetary recommendations.
  • Has moderate/high levels of interactions with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
  • Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:
Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 2-5 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Experience:
  • At least two years of related experience.
Technical Skills or Knowledge:
  • Demonstrated skill and knowledge of, or ability to learn quickly, the internal workings of the University as well as the technology tools available to UChicago Global, including its contact management system, compliance software, Zoom and the Microsoft Office Suite.
