Associate Director of Marketing & Communications

Baltimore Center Stage (BCS), a LORTB theater, recently launched its 60th anniversary season and is amid significant cultural transformation toward a thrilling vision for the next sixty years. Under the artistic leadership of Stephanie Ybarra, BCS is building on a legacy of innovation and inclusion by centering the civic and catalytic nature of theater as an art form. The Associate Director of Marketing & Communications will oversee the box office, front of house and accessibility services for Baltimore Center Stage. The position will play a leadership role in the newly restructured Marketing and Communications department, shifting toward a holistic approach to engaging stakeholders.

Compensation: Salary is $70,000 per year plus standard company health benefits and paid time off. This is a year-round exempt position and is not eligible for overtime, and BCS is a hybrid work environment.

Key Responsibilities (included but not limited to): The Associate Director of Marketing & Communications will focus on building a holistic approach to external messaging around sales, donations, audience development and civic engagement. They will work in a growing, fast-paced department that serves the programmatic activity of the entire organization. As the primary lead for BCS’s Digital Marketing initiatives, the Associate Director of Marketing & Communications will lead content development, digital strategy, and data analysis across multiple channels, with an eye towards maximizing deepening engagement, expanding brand awareness, and generating revenue. This position reports to the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer.

Website and Digital Marketing

  • Manage box office personnel, including hiring, training and ongoing support needs
  • Email Marketing: Drafting, editing, and routing emails; editing and resizing graphics as necessary
  • Social Media Management: In collaboration with Communications Manager, ideate creative social media content that elevates BCS' institutional brand and communicates information on upcoming events
  • Website Administration: In collaboration with Associate Director of Audience Experience and the Data Team, ensure BCS' website is up to date and refreshed with current information
  • Collaborate with programming departments on executing strategic positioning for all BCS activities

Project Management & Data Analysis

  • Oversee and track advancement of Marketing projects in BaseCamp, adjusting timelines and coordinating approvals as needed
  • In collaboration with Graphic Designer, organize, coordinate, and route design assets for creation and approval
  • Build data and analytic reports in Tessitura, Google Analytics, and Prospect2, and use insights to inform and evolve marketing strategy

Audience & Community Engagement

  • Collaborate with Associate Director of Audience Experience to align external messaging with customer service functions
  • Supervise Communications Manager in building and maintaining authentic relationships with external stakeholders

Institution

Participate in the activities of the Marketing Department as a responsible, engaged and informed advocate for the health of Center Stage, by supporting with time and energy, building wide events to advance our mission and its goals.

  • Specialized Knowledge: Proficiency (or willingness to develop proficiency) with Basecamp (Project Management), Photoshop (Graphic Design), Tessitura (CRM), Prospect2 (Email) and Wordpress (Web) a plus.
