• JOB SUMMARY

Maintains Good Shepherd physician database by entering new and updated patient and account information. Gathering and posting all charges generated by the physician group for the purpose of billing to maintain a current AR flow.

• ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

MAINTAINS PHYSICIAN DATABASE
By gathering all census sheets from physicians and keeping accurate records of all inpatient visits
performs transaction entry
entering patient demographics, verifying all patient information from admissions and from outside facilities.
CODES BILLS
By attaching appropriate modifiers, ICD9 and CPT codes to consults patient encounters as needed
by keeping up to date on coding issues and proper coding procedures via reading materials, teleconferences, webinars or attending seminars.
ASSURES PAYMENT FOR SERVICES
By posting all charges for inpatient, Pediatric department and any other outside entity where the physician group sees patients
posts all charges for certain contracts for physician group in hospital system
proving out at the end of day
attaching any attachments to bills
assists in requests for medical records for insurance companies.
PROTECTS PATIENTS' RIGHTS
By maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.
MAINTAINS OPERATIONS
By following policies and procedures
sorting mail, Answering phones, running and reviewing statements
notifying patients of past due balances, assist in insurance denials.
CONTRIBUTES TO TEAM EFFORT
By accomplishing related results and helping and training staff.
Providing statistical reports as needed for the director, staff or other departments.

• QUALIFICATIONS:

Work Experience
Previous medical clerical training with experience in patient encounters, computer entry and processing required
