In this job you will drive impact with Southern California Edison’s (SCE) long-term strategic goal of integrating Operational Excellence (OE) into our culture and business model through a deployment of Continuous Improvement (CI) practices across the organization. As part of the Strategic Performance Improvements (SPI) Team, you will lead targeted efforts in support of priority company-wide initiatives to drive performance improvements and impact through data analysis.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Lead large, complex, cross-functional projects and activities targeting strategic goals; deploy advanced problem-solving (e.g., management consultant frameworks, Lean Six-Sigma) and data analytics skills
  • Lead improvement of high-priority business processes associated with ongoing Operational Excellence (OE) Initiatives, Catalyst Projects, and/or other high priority focus areas to drive impact
  • For each focus area, lead analyses to gain a better understanding of key processes and their performance: document current state, establish baseline performance, identify performance gaps
  • Conduct root cause analysis to identify and prioritize corrective actions which may include short term operational solutions or longer-term projects
  • Develop and lead a portfolio of improvement opportunities for assigned OE Initiative, including development and management of execution plans, communications plans, savings/benefit calculation and realization, change impact assessments, initiative risk assessments, status reporting, etc.
  • Lead development and delivery of synthesized communications to Sponsors and Sr. Leadership in assigned areas
  • Uses computer applications such as Excel (including QI Macros), Word, PowerPoint, and Visio to analyze, document, and present information
Qualifications


The essentials

  • Two or more years of management consultant or similar experience implementing problem-solving frameworks or CI practices.
  • Ten or more years of experience leading cross-functional initiatives, including leading company performance improvement projects which implemented sustained impact using advanced problem solving or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience developing, interpreting analytical results, and synthesizing complex information into digestible insights; knowledge and proficiency in data analytics
  • Experience driving change and navigating all levels of the organization (including senior leaders and executives); building presentations, facilitating meetings, and presenting to a variety of audiences, especially senior leaders
  • Advanced proficiency using software tools such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio

The preferred

  • MBA or Bachelor’s degree or higher in a quantitative or scientific field (e.g., mathematics, economics, engineering, natural sciences, computer science, business)
  • Experience using advanced data analytics techniques
  • Utilities industry experience
  • Lean Six Sigma (or similar) certification at a Black Belt or Master Black Belt-level from a recognized company or institution
  • Project management training (Project Management PMP certification or similar)
  • Organizational Change Management certification
  • Experience conducting performance analysis using data analytics software (e.g., Statistical Analysis Systems (SAS), Python) and familiarity with visual dashboard tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI, SAS Visual Analytics)

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage.
