Responsibilities:
Provides direct patient care to a specific group of patients under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Qualifications:
Minimum Education:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Ability to communicate with patients, visitors and staff both orally and in writing.
Minimum Experience:
  • Previous experience as Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant or similar
  • Assists with toileting i.e. bedpan, commodes, urinals, incontinence care.
  • Proper body mechanics for transfers/ambulation.
  • Vital signs.
  • Completion of phlebotomy course; with at least 120 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena OR 80 hours of clinical rotation in a medical arena with one (1) year healthcare experience required.
Required Certification/Registration:
  • National Phlebotomy Certification required within 6 months.
  • Completion of AHA – BLS Healthcare Provider Course – Current and On-going.
  • Successful completion of Orientation program including classroom and clinical component.
  • Validation of required performance skills.
  • Internal Crisis Intervention training required.
Physical Requirements: Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking. Lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patient. Considerable reaching,stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching. Visual acuity and color discrimination is required. Ability to communicate effectively and to comprehend conversation. Must have manual dexterity and hand-to-eye coordination. Must anticipate unexpected movements by patients. Capable of working assigned hours at varied times during the day or night. Alertness required during all phases of work.

Working Conditions:
  • Environmental Demands and Exposure to Hazards: Works in a clean, well-lighted, heated or ventilated facility. No routine exposure to hazards.
  • Physical Demands: Demonstrates physical and functional ability to perform full anatomical range of motion to accomplish tasks. Evidence of visual and aural acuity and finger and hand dexterity to operate computer and office equipment. Can withstand long periods of sitting, standing and/or constant walking. Ability to lift 10 lbs.
  • Mental Demands: Ability to foster collaborative relationships, to work well under pressure, to organize and synthesize new information, and prioritize tasks. Possesses critical thinking, analytical skills and flexibility. Ability to multi-task. Required detailed attention to work in an environment where interruptions cannot be controlled. Demonstrates sensitivity to customer needs and expectations. May be subject to irregular hours including evenings or potentially weekends to participate in operational and community events as necessary.
