POSITION SUMMARY
The Chief Medical Officer provides clinical guidance to practitioners, innovating policy change, continuous quality improvement efforts for patient centric care and safety with a community health setting. Ensures all clinical staff adheres to health care and safety standards. Liaison between administration and medical staff to ensure clinical procedures are followed and that patient receive the best. Oversees quality assessment and improvement for four clinics. Work closely with Chief Executive Officer and Clinical Integration Administrator to provide medical direction for the agency.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Advanced Medical Degree (M.D.) and previous experience in management and/or leadership role within the healthcare industry. Current State of Illinois Physician licensure and DEA license required. Board certification preferred. Experience in public health is necessary. Must have excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills.


RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish and assure maintenance of professional standards including oversight of the center’s clinical protocols
  • Work in conjunction with the Director of Compliance and Clinical integration Administrator to implement quality improvement strategies designed to improve quality clinical performance, maintain compliance with HIPPA and other regulations and standards. Ensure that quality management programs are carried out in all clinical areas through the development and implementation of effective disease management programs, clinical protocols and guidelines other decision tools and the review of outcomes
  • Supervise all clinical providers and work closely with Clinical Integration Administrator with provider templates and schedules to ensure adequate coverage for patient access to quality care
  • Assist the CEO and Director of Compliance and QA/QI with compliance with the HRSA Clinical Outcomes, health care indicators and 330 requirements
  • Assure the ongoing development of policies and procedures that guide and support the provision of medical services
  • Assist HR Department with ensuring medical staff is compliant HRSA credentialing policies.
  • Work closely with Clinical Integration Administration and Director of Quality Assurance to review clinical policies and procedures, quality metrics and PDSAs to improve workflows and outcome.
  • Provide oversight of medical department’s onsite academic, teaching and training practices
  • Provide oversight and approves all health professional training programs at Christian Community Health Center
  • Work closely with Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officers strategies to achieving financial benchmarks.
  • Conduct regular provider meetings (at least once monthly)
  • Submit monthly clinical dashboard to the CEO by fifth business day of each month
  • Co-lead the implementation of Patient Centered Medical Home Model
  • Participate in all major functions to promote awareness of the agency’s core services
  • Assist the CEO with implementing change management strategies to strengthen the agency’s infrastructure and viability
  • Develop and implement programs to ensure responsiveness to patient and community health needs
  • Provide between 8-12 hours of direct patient care per week
  • Provide leadership to CCHC in the areas of strategic planning, strategy execution and implementation of care management meetings
  • Participate in all clinical grant audits for private, federal, state and city agencies
  • Present an annual clinic report (Year in Review) to the Chief Executive Officer
  • Ensures that practitioners receive at least two in-service trainings on CPT coding per year
  • Assist in the orientation and training of practitioners
  • Other duties as assigned
