Working under the general supervision of the Director of Operations, this position is accountable for workflow and the overall management and department operations of Maine Health Cancer Care – South Portland to deliver exceptional clinical care, superb customer service, and to maximize Physician and Staff satisfaction.

This position oversees an interdisciplinary team to ensure the delivery of high-quality clinical care. Key responsibilities include overseeing the implementation and maintenance of a clinical competency program, developing and mentoring clinical teams, leading efforts to improve clinical workflows across practices, and improving patient experience and clinical outcomes.

A BSN degree and 5 years of nursing experience are required for this position. For the highest level of success in this position, we are seeking candidates with prior supervisory experience, ideally in a nursing role.

Position Summary

· The Clinical Manager is responsible for supervising and overseeing all operational aspects of the clinical department, including clinical services and staffing needs. The Clinical Manager is responsible for coordinating the clinical work flow in order to provide the most efficient, effective, safe and comprehensive patient care. The Clinical Manager will work with physicians, midlevel providers and clinical staff to increase the volume of clinical outpatient services, referral process, patient flow, and maximize the productivity of each practice location.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

· Education: BSN required.

· License/Certifications: Active State of Maine Nursing License or eligible for licensure. Current BLS certification.

· Experience: Five years of experience in the nursing field. Supervisory/managerial experience preferred. Experience working with computers.

· Comprehensive knowledge of nursing practices and standards, medical procedures, tests, and clinical/clerical skills necessary to perform all functions and assist physicians. Knowledge of pharmacology is desirable.

· Interpersonal and communication skills necessary to interact effectively with patients, families, and other health care providers.

· Analytical ability sufficient to identify patients at risk and initiate appropriate action.

· Ability to identify potential crisis situations involving patients and/or families, and to plan strategies for managing these situations when they arise.

· Analytical ability required gathering and interpreting information necessary to resolve problems in an accurate and timely manner. Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality.
