Facilitates strategic planning activities, formulates a plan that drives department success and which aligns with hospital wide plans and provides the leadership necessary to achieve strategic goals and outcomes in departments of responsibility which include: Respiratory Care, Pulmonary Function, Respiratory Support Services, Neurodiagnostics, Sleep Disorders Center and Durable Medical Equipment. Implements financial strategies that drive department financial success including budgeting, monitoring and controlling of financial indicators. Reports supporting financial data as requested. Oversees the hiring, onboarding and retention of the workforce, including assurance of the credentials, licensure and educational background of the workforce and assurance that technical proficiency and on-going education, certification and licensure activities are maintained for the work performed. Maintains the appropriate knowledge, skills and disciplines needed to direct department responsibilities and actively participates in activities that promote growth as a leader. Plans and directs activities to meet the goals and regulatory responsibilities of the departments, such as: Joint Commission accreditation for Hospital, Ambulatory and Home Care; State Board of Health DME Re. Validation surveys; compliance with CAP/CLIA guidelines for the Blood Gas Program; and requirements that support other department specialty certifications and designations such as Perinatal Levels of Care designation. Establishes and maintains a quality improvement program that assesses the proficiency of each employee and which assures the provision of safe, quality care through the systematic review of department operations. Maintains direct communication with the Senior Care Giver Team. Provides written policies, procedures, and clinical practice guidelines to guide staff for the services provided utilizing best practices, evidence based medicine and industry standard of care. Demonstrates leadership skills towards employees, peers and community in the performance of all duties, through engagement in hospital activities and through support of the hospitals’ mission, vision and values. Collaborates with the Medical Directors of Respiratory Care, the Laboratory Program, and the Sleep Disorders Center in reviewing and planning departmental programs, clinical services and resources necessary for the provision of care.
