Tasks (brief description of the tasks the applicant will be responsible for)

The Automation Technician is a “management support” position and is required to perform all of the electrical functions of a Maintenance/Electrical Technician, plus possess demonstrated skills in advanced hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical systems. Additional duties include maintaining, trouble-shooting, and repairing scales and high-end control panels, set-up and calibration of controllers/measuring instruments, and PLC troubleshooting/programming/repair. Must be able to assist engineering and plant staff with the specification, installation, and modification of integrated systems, and provide technical support for all phases of the operation.

Requirements (minimum requirements to be considered for the job)

Education: Training beyond high school including either an Associate (A.S.) degree in Electronics Technology (or closely related technical field), or a combination of education and experience (which may include skilled trades programs or military training).

Experience: 4 + years of automation experience and/or industrial maintenance experience.

Computer Skills: Competent in Microsoft Excel and Word; must have strong skills in document organization, the use of technical materials, Rockwell Automation software, and research techniques. Must either be proficient or become proficient in Megamation.

Communication Skills: Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing with all team members; must have high level of verbal communication.

Special Skills: Strong interpersonal skills; the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of management and operations personnel; critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Certification: Certifications in any technical field or techniques is a plus. Travel: 1-5 trips per year outside of assigned location.
