SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Chief of Staff and Community Engagement, the Community Engagement Coordinator is responsible for developing and leading a strategy to cultivate and support volunteers, partners, and other various stakeholders. They will oversee the volunteer management strategy and assist senior leadership in maintaining and enhancing collaborative partnership relations.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following, as well as other work-related duties as assigned:


Volunteer Program Management

  • Serve as primary point of contact for all requests to volunteer/collaborate including, telephone, voice mail, email, and written requests and ensure a timely response.
  • Lead agency-wide volunteer events.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive recruitment, orientation, training, retention, and recognition plan for individual and group volunteers to ensure that all volunteers are knowledgeable and feel valued. Direct supervision of individual volunteers is delegated to the team in the area where the volunteers are assigned.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to identify and maintain a comprehensive list of involvement opportunities for individual volunteers, civic groups, and collaborative partnerships.
  • Develop and maintain complete and accurate records including volunteer policies, procedures, position descriptions, standards of conduct and, where applicable, criminal background checks.
  • Maintain a database of volunteer demographics, hours worked, number of volunteers, and in-kind value of service to create monthly and annual reports on all individual and group volunteer activities.
  • Develop and maintain collegial relationships with peers in the field and with area volunteer organizations to ensure best practices for our volunteer and collaborative programs.

Community Outreach

  • Coordinate agency representation at fairs, festivals, schools, corporations, etc.
  • Create and maintain appropriate collateral digital, print, and web materials for volunteer recruitment.
  • Develop the script and plan for recurring agency tours and serve as the lead tour facilitator.
  • Develop and maintain strong, positive relationships with collaborative partners ensuring that mutually agreed upon expectations are being met.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education:
    • Associate Degree from an accredited institution; degree in business, management, or human services fields preferred.
  • Experience and Skills:
    • A minimum of one-year professional experience, such as working in a non-profit, managing volunteer programs, or leading teams and/or organizations.
    • Strong technical and administrative background, including intermediate use of Microsoft Office programs.
    • Use of engagement platforms, social media management, and digital marketing experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of management principles and evaluation techniques related to programs that involve a cadre of volunteers, highly collaborative management style, with the ability to draw on and develop the expertise of people with diverse skill sets and experiences.
  • Ability to pass a Level II background screen.
  • Eligible to work in the United States.
