The Professional Simulator Instructor is part of Envoy’s Air Operations Training Department. In this role Simulator Instructors are responsible for ground and simulator training conducted for Part 121 air carrier pilots receiving initial, transition upgrade and recurrent training. Instructors measure the progress of pilots within the established training curriculum, create lesson plans and complete classroom and simulator set- up. Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC) in multi-crew simulator situations. Instructors must participate in the FAA approved Line Observations Program. Ensure all publications and training materials are current and prepare various documents and reports.

Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bachelor’s degree or a combination of education plus related experience
  • Must possess a current Airline Transport Pilot License (ATPL)
  • Minimum one (1) year as PIC or SIC on a turbojet aircraft
  • Must have the ability to occupy the airplane jumpseat and participate in the FAA approved Line Observation program.
  • Must possess the FAA approval for cockpit access during operations under FAR Part 121.
  • Willing and able to work rotating shifts including nights, days, weekends and holidays and rotating days off
  • Able to read, write fluently speak and understand the English language
  • Must possess the legal right to work in the United States
  • Must possess excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
  • Must be able to prioritize work and projects in order to meet competing deadlines
  • Must report to work on a regular and timely basis
  • Must fulfill a fingerprint based criminal history records check to qualify for unescorted access privileges to airport security identification areas (SIDA) is applicable

Positions Preferences

  • 1,000 hours as PIC or PIC in operations under FAR Part 121
  • Previous EMB 145 experience
  • High level of proficiency with Microsoft products such as Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Word
  • Previous instructor experience

Essential Job Functions

  • Ability to manipulate various controls such as control columns, control wheels, rudder pedals, valves, push buttons, switches, and keyboards.
  • Discern cockpit instrumentation's (Analog and Digital).
  • Methodical, analytical, and systematic understanding and decision making.
  • Ability to read written critiques, directives, and instructions.
  • Provide oral classroom instruction in a clear, concise and grammatically correct form.
  • Speak and be understood within a cockpit environment.
  • Ability to work in close quarters.

  • Ability to adapt to diversified classroom schedules, situations, scenarios, or personalities.
  • Safely conduct preflight and walk-around inspections training.

  • Ability to critique errors and provide the correct solution in factual and hypothetical situations.
  • Ability to read computer screens and microfiche files.

  • Lifting or moving of heavy objects such as life rafts or training devices.
  • Reach, push, or pull objects located in cramped quarters or accesses.
  • Memorization of various pieces of technical data and specified procedures.
  • Tolerant approaches to student and fellow workers whose views may differ from your own.
  • Possess the agility required in emergency evacuations from available exits.
  • A personality conducive to harmonious relationships with peers, trainees, and supervisors.
  • Ability to read publications.
  • Must be able to successfully pass random drug tests.
  • Complete required training activity requirements, computer forms or computer entries.
  • Demonstrate, review, correct, and evaluate trainee progress. Counsel as necessary.
  • Conduct fire extinguisher and personal breathing device training.
  • Conducts other specialized instruction in areas such as altimeters, ACARS, navigation and sea survival.
  • Reviews existing training programs and recent revisions to publication to recommend corrections, additions, deletions, and other improvements for program development input.

Researches available publications for answers to student and fellow instructor's questions.

Assure all training materials needed are present each day. Collects books, handouts, and other items required for a particular course of instruction and presents them to the trainee on the first day of a course.

Moves furniture or training devices by lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling

An ability to project knowledge, confidence, and assurance.

Periodically observes cockpit resource management training.
