We are seeking a dedicated individual for our Foster Care Caseworker position, based in our Arlington Heights office. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION

The Case Aide is responsible for providing direct supervision and transportation services to children placed in the foster care programs.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

  • Provide supervision for visits between foster children and their biological families, and intervene if necessary.
  • Assist family in interaction and limit setting up encouragement, modeling and support.
  • Provide transportation for children to/from family visits, medical therapy appointments, etc.
  • Coordinate visits and appointments for assigned children with the foster family, biological family, etc.
  • Notify the assigned family caseworker of any unusual incidents.
  • Provide written documentation of all visits and contacts with the children, biological and foster families.
  • Meet with the assigned caseworker on a monthly basis to discuss needs and progress of families and children.
  • Comply with agency policies and procedures and the Department of Children and Family Services “Code of Ethics for Child Welfare Professionals.”
  • Carry out all duties as assigned by the Foster Care Supervisor.

HOURS OF EMPLOYMENT

Hours and days shall be scheduled by the Foster Care Supervisor depending on the needs of the program.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have at least two years’ experience in the care of infants, small children and adolescents.
  • Must have a high school diploma.
  • Must meet Child Care Facility Driver requirements in accordance with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Must have a valid Illinois driver's license, an automobile, and must submit proof of Illinois automobile insurance.
  • Must complete a Medical and T.B. test providing proof of results.
  • Must be fingerprinted by the State of Illinois and must submit to a full Background Check through the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.
  • Must become certified in CPR and First Aid within six months of employment date.
  • Must submit official academic transcripts from the last school in which a degree was awarded.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
All Shelter, Inc. employees are required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (with legal exemptions allowed.) All program sites have ample supplies of PPE and COVID guidelines are in place regarding cleaning, distancing, and health guidelines.

Education:

  • High school or equivalent (Required)

Experience:

  • working with children: 2 years (Preferred)

License/Certification:

  • Driver's License (Required)
